AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM
The goal of the afterschool program is to address the educational gaps that refugee children face because of their time spent in refugee camps. CenRAS has run successful afterschool programs with the support of volunteers and partners such as the Brown University Student, the Providence After School Alliance (PASA) and Moses Brown School.
REFUGEE YOUTH MENTORING
The youth mentoring program includes comprehensive awareness regarding life choices such as smoking, sexually transmitted diseases, weight related issues, crime prevention, and college readiness. The program uses guest speakers, volunteer trainers, and community services to teach youth about these issues. Visits to hospitals, community colleges, and community organizations are used to give refugee youth new skills and introduce them to important resources. Additionally, the program includes college preparedness work and assists youth through the college application process.
